Our founder՚s hair story, like many curly-haired people՚s, begins with a flat iron.

She spent most of her teens and twenties straightening what she now knows is a beautiful 3a curl pattern, convinced by years of messaging that straight hair was the more professional, more desirable default. The first time she air-dried her hair without any heat and followed a simple Curly Girl routine, she cried — not from disappointment, but from recognition. This was what her hair was supposed to look like.

That experience, shared by so many in our community, is why this site exists.

We are a team of curly and wavy-haired writers, researchers, and beauty editors who understand the CGM journey from the inside. We know the frustration of the first few failed wash days, the confusion of ingredient lists, the overwhelming number of products claiming to be “”curly girl approved.”” We՚ve built this site to simplify all of it — and to celebrate what curl and wave actually look like when properly supported.
